Global Engagement Committee

ISA Global Engagement Committee’s Mission:
The mission of the Global Engagement Committee is to cultivate a sense of awareness in global current events and issues and to foster a commitment to global citizenship.  The Global Engagement committee strives to empower both ISA members and the broader Northwestern community to think, question, participate and become agents of sustainable change, whether abroad or in the US.  Through dinner discussions, global events in the news posted in ISA’s weekly newsletter, and a spring break service trip, the Global Engagement Committee provides a means for students to learn, discuss and engage in events occurring all over the world.

Lara Saldanha

Lara Saldanha doesn’t know where she’s from since she was born in Japan, is of Indian origin, lived in the United States for ten years, and also lived in the Philippines, Singapore, and Geneva, Switzerland most recently. A sophomore piano performance major (which is pretty awesome) in Bienen and Economics major (which is not so awesome) in Weinberg, Lara loves to sing obnoxiously, read, run if she’s not feeling particularly lazy, play the piano when everyone else is asleep, eat spicy food and sinful amounts of Swiss chocolate, travel, and, most importantly, sleep.

Sanya Mansoor

 I’m originally from Kashmir, India but I’ve spent my last 6 years at UWC in Singapore; I’ve also lived in Delhi and England though! I’m majoring in journalism (WOOO MEDILLIONARES) and probably double majoring in International Studies. Outside of ISA I’m in the Global Engagement Summit and NU’s Human Rights Conference. I love going to live concerts, playing FIFA, eating (recently converted to a Chipotle-lover hehehe), spontaneous adventures in foreign countries, funny TV shows (Community, Parks and The Office, YAY) and just laughing in general. :D
Srishti Battacharya

 

Srishti was born in Singapore and lived there for 7 years before moving to New Delhi for 5 years. She moved back to Singapore and has lived there ever since! She is a freshman majoring in Economics and hopes to pursue a minor in BIP as well. Srishti is easily amused, loves meeting new people and she’ll probably say hi to you, even if you don’t know her. She loves telling random stories and is very excited about life!
Mehdy Lamrani

 

Mehdy is a French boy who grew up in France, Spain and Singapore. He studies economics, political science, law, and any humanities that is worth knowing. He enjoys good company, visiting museums, and more importantly, good food. He misses nothing more than good French cheese and croissant, and any other stereotypical French food. If you want to make him happy, just give him some Saint-Nectaire or Roquefort (just pronouncing these cheeses’ name will make him joyful)!
Delia Privitera

 

Delia is half Spanish and half Italian. She grew up in Rome, Italy, before moving to Chicago. She is currently a sophomore, undecided in Weinberg, with a dream of working in the fast paced fashion world. Outside of ISA she is involved in UNITY and NU Mezcla. When she graduates she hopes to perfect the art of couch surfing by traveling around the world to visit her friends and relatives- but let’s be real, most likely she will end up having to find a job.
Caitlyn Wei

 

Caitlyn grew up in Singapore, and food is what she misses the most about that sunny little space. She is a freshman studying Environmental Sciences and Economics. Caitlyn loves to dance, travel, read, make new friends, and spend her afternoons baking muffins and eating cookies-and-cream ice-cream. She has a pet terrapin named Wawa, who always helps her to make choices by blinking its eyes.
