ISA Cultural Affairs Committee’s Mission:
The mission of the Cultural Committee is to promote and celebrate the cultural diversity of students within Northwestern University. Through events such as International Food and Film Festival (IFFF) and International Dance Day, the Cultural Committee encourages people from different parts of the world to showcase their unique cultures and traditions in a fun and meaningful way. This year, we aim to increase campus-wide awareness on the dynamics of world cultures, by promoting the presence of interactive cultural displays, holiday decorations, and art and crafts exhibits around campus; by taking quarterly trips to Chicago’s dynamic cultural neighborhoods, we hope to involve students in a hands-on experience of the lifestyles and practices behind each community. Finally, the Cultural Committee aims to become the liaison between different cultural groups and the student body, promoting events organized by each cultural groups and creating cultural unity within the Northwestern community.

Anandita Puri
Anandita Puri is from New Delhi, in India but lives in Dubai, the two most awesome cities ever! She is a sophomore studying Econ and Psychology with a BIP minor. Outside of ISA, she’s doing World Cup, NUMUN, AIESEC and Phonathon (moneymoneymoney). She loovvess meeting new people, especially internationals! Shisha (or hookah) is one of her weaknesses, along with ice cream and Indian food. She can’t handle the cold so is going to escape to Cali ASAP after graduation, and eventually settle somewhere in Asia (hopefully)!

Arman Kassamali
Born in the United States to a Muslim Tanzanian father and Catholic German-American mother, Arman was brought up to appreciate diversity. He moved to Caracas, Venezuela before he could walk, proceeded to Kobe, Japan when he turned 6, and moved back to the US after graduating from high school. But the place he calls home is surely Kobe. He grew to love the culture, people and food over the 12 years he lived there. Arman enjoys playing futbol, basketball and listening to real rap (watup LU!). He is currently a Junior majoring in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Economics.
Ann Lee
Jeremy Seah
Jeremy Seah was born and raised in Singapore, but lived 3 years in Hong Kong and 2 years in Tokyo. He is currently a freshman studying at Weinberg, with interests to major in History. Seeing that double majoring seems to be a pre-requisite at ISA however, Jeremy intends to pursue an as yet undecided major to fit in with this group of overachievers. His favourite past times include eating, writing, travelling, playing tennis, and the occasional lightsaber duel. Having worked as a freelance food reviewer in Singapore, Jeremy has a deep passion for food of all cultures and intends to secure employment as the stir-fry cook in the Allison dining hall (not really). Other than being in the ISA’s cultural committee, Jeremy is also a member of NUSAF and intends to work for The Daily Northwestern.
